Setting Up a Redundant Environment for TFS permalink
Visual Studio Team System is a system deployed across multiple physical servers and other infrastructure components. As such, there are multiple points of failure that can impact end users. Although most users can work offline if access to their Team Foundation Server is lost, it will cause some minor work disruptions if the servers are unavailable and will cause even more disruptions when the servers come back online and the offline work needs to synchronized. Some components, such as the Project Portal and Reports will not be available at all if a server goes down. This potential problem can be mitigated by setting up a redundant environment. A redundant environment for Visual Studio Team System will consist of a server cluster for the data tier and a warm standby box for the application tier.
